Consulting

I help newsrooms, NGOs, universities, and policy teams reckon with modern information problems: building digital investigations skills, launching service journalism projects, and developing editorial strategies that put people first.

Highlights

Two people, one elderly man with a gray beard and dark skin, and one young woman with dark skin and glasses, are looking at a smartphone together on a city street. The woman is wearing a beige knit hat and a brown coat. The man is wearing a cap and a blue hoodie. Buildings and trees are visible in the background.

I led curriculum design for Documented’s immigrant media training program, which supports local news groups across the U.S in expanding community-driven reporting for immigrants

At the Information Futures Lab, I managed civic engagement tools and partnerships, co-authored research on how people are using evolving tech, coached student research, and planned events on data privacy, surveillance education, and tech regulation.

As the head of partnerships for the U.S. office of First Draft, my training program on election reporting and misinformation helped earn us the Radio and Television Digital News Association’s First Amendment Leadership Award.

How can I help you?

Journalist & Newsroom Training
Hands-on workshops and curricula for reporters, editors, and social media teams on verification, social listening, open-source investigations, navigating platforms, digital safety, and responding to weaponized information thoughtfully and ethically.

A group of people sitting in a conference room with large windows showing a snowy outdoor scene, some people are listening, while one man is speaking into a microphone.

Research & Investigative Support
I can support teams and projects tracking how information moves and gets distorted across platforms, communities, and political contexts. This includes social media monitoring, source verification, and research design.

Community Information Needs
I work with news organizations and civic institutions to understand what information their communities actually need and whether they're getting it. Drawing on principles of service journalism, this work can include information needs assessments, audience research, and program design aimed at closing gaps between communities and the reliable information that affects their lives.

Curriculum & Resource Development
Developing guides, toolkits, and training curricula in a variety of formats for your team, event, or program.

Editorial Strategy
Help developing practical, ethical frameworks for identifying, monitoring, and responding to misleading or weaponized information. This includes building internal protocols, understanding platform dynamics, and thinking through when and how to report on contested or harmful content.

Partnerships & Coalition Building
Help building and managing collaborative networks, whether that's coordinating between newsrooms or connecting researchers with practitioners.
